Big Hitters at Horsham Trident Debate

4 February 2016 14:00 PM

Internationally recognised experts hit Horsham tonight to slug it out in a debate, hosted by Horsham Labour Party, over the future of Trident.

On one side is Dr Lee Willett, editor of Jane's Navy International at IHS Jane's and established analyst and writer on naval, maritime and wider defence and security policy matters,

On the other is Kate Hudson, general secretary of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament since 2010 and a leading anti-nuclear and anti-war campaigner nationally and internationally.

They will speak to the question: "Trident: is replacement essential for the protection of UK security and place in the world or an outdated political strategy and a waste of billions of pounds of tax payers money?"

“This debate promises to be an important contribution to the understanding of the issues surrounding the renewal of the UK`s nuclear capability", said Linda Hugl vice-chair of Horsham Labour Party. "It is a vital area of government policy that often doesn't get discussed in depth, despite being of great concern to many people”

A vote will be taken at the end of the meeting which is at Collyer`s College and is open to all.
