Tilted Wig`s new adaptation of Oscar Wilde`s classic tale is a very satisfying pot pourri of obsession, corruption, betrayal, decadence and death.

Famous artist Basil Hallwood (Daniel Goode) becomes obsessed with the young Dorian Gray (Gavin Fowier) and, in his portrait of him, creates his finest work. Basil, reluctantly, because he thinks he will be a bad influence on him, introduces the louche and witty aristocrat Lord Henry Wotton (Jonathan Wrather) to Dorian. Basil was right and the meeting sets in train the other elements of the pot pourri which also engulf the women in the tale (played variously by Kate Dobson, Adele James and Phoebe Pryce). All the while the portrait looms unseen in the background.

In essence this clever production is a pacy thriller, peppered with some of Wilde`s best quotations - and also not to be missed for the scene where Dorian`s love Sybil Vane (Kate Dobson) plays Juliet to her Romeo (Samuel Townsend). Don`t ask. Go see it.

At the Capitol Horsham until Saturday. Details of this and other happenings here
