Our Take on the Big Children’s Festival

The HH team were back at the Horsham Sports Club on the 26th August with our youngest reporter, Amelie (aged 4) coming to check out the Big Children’s Festival. The weather did its absolute best to spoil the party but the beat kept moving on.

Magic Mr Steve warmed the dampened crowd early on but the Horsham’s Got Talent contest was a true triumph against adversity (or precipitation to be precise). A great crowd gathered, umbrellas raised, to watch some really talented kids strut their stuff. Compere, Tomfoolery introduced the acts and kept the crowd going with some help from no less than Spiderman himself (Superhero parties). But the stars of the show were the contestants themselves who performed a wide array of songs dance, comedy and magic. Dylan won the overall judges vote for his excellent magic and joke routine beating off some stiff competition from Flightcrew (cheerleaders), Terranova (dance), Leyton (Metallica cover), Sammy (comedian) as well as lots of other really talented kids.

The festival promised a wide array of workshops and whilst the weather was so bad many of them were moved inside the sports club there was plenty to keep the little people busy (as well as the club bar for the adults). There were too many events for our intrepid reporter Amelie (aged 4) to try but she loved the street dance workshop in the main room best and has been strutting her stuff ever since. She also enjoyed the Arts and Crafts tent until the weather won out against the outdoor activities.

When we moved inside the fabulous Tomfoolery and TNT Parties' Awesome Amy kept the party going and kept the little feet moving (and some of us old timers). Amelie returned home and promptly fell asleep, the best indicator of a fun filled day.

Apologies to all the other acts we missed on the day but only 1 girl and so much to see and do.
The Big Childrens Festival is one for the diaries next year and if the weather holds it will be the icing on the cake especially in light of the lavish array of bouncy castles, slides and outdoor entertainment on offer.
