Parking your bike in Horsham is about to get easier by the end of the month with a £30,000 spend to improve sustainable transport methods in the town.

Under the scheme three new single and double decker covered bike shelters are to be placed at the side of Boots, at the rear of Piries Place Car Park and in Lower Tanbridge Way between the Citizens Advice Bureau and the Forum.

A fourth shelter will follow near the Bishopric when a suitable site has been identified. Each shelter will accommodate about 20 bikes.

The scheme is part of a Horsham District Council and West Sussex County Council move promoting cycling as a mode of sustainable travel, encouraging the benefits of healthier travel options and managing the growth of traffic congestion.

At the same time, existing casual cycle parking facilities in the town centre will be provided with additional stainless steel cycle hoops.
