May Opening for Horsham Boutique Lounge Bar

May Opening for Horsham Boutique Lounge Bar

4 March 2021 14:29 PM

Boutique lounge bar and bottle shop venture, Sit & Sip, plans to open its third “tasting room” in May, at Horsham`s redeveloped Pirie`s Place. “We’re aiming for 17th May – as current guidelines suggest it`s then we can seat customers indoors. Of course, we know this is subject to change but we’re keen to open as soon as we can,” James Mattingley, the driving force behind the business, tells Hello Horsham.

The first Tasting Room opened in Chichester in 2018, followed by Wokingham in 2019. “We were hoping to open Horsham in 2020 but Covid-19 had other ideas!” added James. “We’re a collection of boutique tasting rooms, each with their own characteristics. We’d love to grow the brand. Horsham seemed the perfect town for us to open our third venue.”

Sit & Sip`s aim is to create a casual relaxed all-day hangout serving craft beers from local brewers, as well as artisan spirits from small batch producers, paired with charcuterie boards of different meats and cheeses, many sourced locally by West Sussex producers. Local suppliers to Pirie`s tasting room will include Cabin Pressure Spirits, based in Horsham, and Brolly Brewing, based in Wisborough Green.

The tasting room will open from 10.00am to serve a range of specialist hot drinks, such as craft coffees, loose leaf teas, naughty lattes with locally sourced cakes and pastries. General manager, Megan Tebbutt Megan (pictured), who heads up the Horsham site, says: “We have partnered with TrueStart coffee, a small batch coffee producer, to provide an innovative funky craft coffee offering along with Truffles Bakery to bring scrumptious handmade cakes and pastries. We are a relaxed venue that has fantastic facilities that caters for everyone, including welcoming four-legged friends too, with the bar serving special doggy treats.”

But what about children? “We cater for children with high chairs and baby change facilities and so yes they are more than welcome,” says James. More info on Sit & Sip here.
