Kirdford Parish Council has called a public meeting ahead of Celtique Energie Weald Ltd`s anticipated planning application to drill an exploratory oil well near Boxall Bridge, Kirdford.
The meeting on the 2nd September at 7.00pm at St John the Baptist Church, Glasshouse Lane, Kirdford, RH14 0LT, is to seek local views and comments on the drilling proposal.
The company has already launched an application with Chichester District Council for an environmental impact assessment as a prelude to a planning application.
The proposal is to drill a well to a depth of about 2.7km (8,750 feet) at Northup Field south of Boxall Bridge and about a mile north west of Wisborough Green.
