Horsham`s new pub the Anchor Tap, at 16 East Street, opened its doors at midday today and by 12.01pm was full to the brim with punters queuing up to sample the sixteen ales and stouts on offer.
Partridge Green brewer Dark Star announced back in September that it was going to re-establish a pub on the site with the same name as one which closed about 30 years ago. That had stood on the site since 1898 and a Horsham branch of CAMRA was formed there.
Dark Star Brewery started in the cellar of the Evening Star pub in Brighton in 1994. In 2001 the brewery side relocated to a new purpose-built brewery in Ansty, near Haywards Heath, before finally moving in 2010 to a new 16,000-square-foot site in Partridge Green, where it acquired the Partridge pub.
