6 June 2017 14:51 PM

Sussex based theatre company Gin Palace Productions is bringing its latest show to the Capitol Horsham for one night before it heads off to the Edinburgh Fringe in August. The Secret Voice Of Hollywood tells the story of Marni Nixon who was the singing voice of Hollywood leading ladies, including Deborah Kerr in The King And I, Sophia Loren in Boy On A Dolphin and Natalie Wood (unbeknown to her, it is said) in West Side Story.

Gin Palace Productions was founded in 2013 by actors Samantha Nixon and Alasdair Carson-Sheard from Hurstpierpoint and Brighton respectively. They wrote the show themselves and perform in it, with Sam taking Marni`s role, singing some of the most famous songs from the films. Sam and Alasdair have known each other since working together on “Lorraine Bowen’s Polyester Fiesta” and formed Gin Palace Productions to produce their first show “Practically Perfect!”, about the life of Julie Andrews and performed at the Hurst and Brighton Festivals.

As well as writing their own work, the pair have also produced “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” and “Twelfth Night”, performed in Sussex pub gardens.

You can find details of the Capitol show on the 17th of June here. If you`re in Edinburgh in August, you can catch up with it at the Mint Studio, Infirmary Street from the 4th to the 12th of August.
