Ultra green is Horsham Council`s Christmas tree this year. It has been created out of 600 re-used green plastic bottles by Tracey Graham who is known as the “rubbish artist”. It will stand outside County Hall North, Parkside, Chart Way, Horsham RH12 1XH and its lights will be switched on at 4.00pm on Monday the 7th December.

The tree was created to raise awareness of plastic waste. Only 62% of plastic bottles are being captured for recycling in West Sussex according to county data. It’s hoped that the ‘tree’ will encourage everyone to recycle at least one more plastic bottle a week, which could lead to an extra 1.4m bottles being recycled a month.

At the lighting-up ceremony mince pies will be served to get everyone in the Christmas spirit, with the West Sussex Waste Prevention Team on hand to provide more information on the importance of recycling across the holidays and throughout the New Year.
