Crawley Down, Steyning, Horsham and Findon

First: Meet 10.45am at the Crawley Down village shops, Station Road RH10 4HZ. Park by the shops or in Burleigh Way. A 4 mile, 1.5 hour walk with various circular routes in the lovely countryside surrounding Crawley Down. The walks can go through open countryside, farmland or woods. Some walks are flat but others have inclines, and there may be stiles. Pat 01342 712591.

Second: Meet 11.00am at Steyning Health Centre, Tanyard Lane, Steyning, BN44 3RJ. A 2 mile, 1¼ hour walk with various routes around the outskirts of Steyning. Linda 01903 816865 or Lyn 01903 369752.

Third: Meet 12.00pm at the bandstand by Conservatory Café in Horsham Park, RH12 2BP. A 3.25 mile, 1¼ hour walk taking in Denne Hill. Designed to fit into a lunch hour, it is a fairly brisk walk where a sensible pair of walking shoes is advisable. Not suitable for first-time walkers. No dogs. Carol 01403 263201.

Fourth: Meet 7.00pm the Gun, Findon. A 5.5 mile, 2¾ hour walk for more experienced walkers, over possibly difficult terrain. Bring a torch. The walks are very social and usually end in a pub. Car sharing is actively encouraged so ask if you require a lift. Dogs welcome. Ron 01403 265925.
